Do you know the Noir genre? 
Crime, Gangsters, Jazz, Club, Smoke, Black Cats... It's a stylized Dark Thriller genre. Great movies in the genre are Batman (1989), Se7en, Sin city. And in video games we have L.A. Noir and Backbone that are excellent representations of the genre.
